Tsereteli, the prominent Moscow sculptor,t says that he favors erecting a full-scale statue of Vladimir Putin
in St. Petersburg and that if requested, he will be honored to take charge of

In an interview with the Russian
Life News channel, the sculptor said that more than a decade ago, he had
fashioned a statue of Putin as a judo master under the title “In a healthy body,
a healthy spirt.” But up to now, however, he continued, that monument remains
in his personal gallery rather than in a more public space.
Tsereteli called for the circulation
of a petition among residents of the Northern Capital to begin the process of
putting up a statue in a prominent location in the Kremlin leader’s native
city.
