Russia Among Five Most Unhappy Countries in the World, Survey Finds

 Paul Goble

Staunton, Dec. 28 – A survey of people in 44 countries conducted by Gallup International and ROMIR finds that Russia is among the top five of the most unhappy countries of the world,  a calculation based on the difference between those who say they are happy and those who say they are not.

Eighteen percent more Russians say they are dissatisfied with their lives than say they are pleased or neutral the survey found with the numbers relatively little changed over the last year (newizv.ru/news/society/28-12-2021/rossiya-voshla-v-pyaterku-samyh-neschastlivyh-stran-mira).

What is perhaps most striking is that the Russian Federation adjoins countries that are near the top of the ranking in terms of happiness – Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan – and also those that are even further down the list than Russia in that regard – Ukraine, which ranks alongside Iraq and Ghana.
