Staunton, February 28 – Three more
Ingush activists – Ruslan Dzeytov, Amir Oskanov, and Rashid Aushev -- were
sentenced to terms in prison colonies for their roles in the March 2019 protest
about the border agreement with Chechnya. Because of time served waiting for
judgment, they are slated to be released in the next few weeks (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/346480/,

and kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/346443/).
That means that slightly more than
half of those charged with attacking officials have now been sentenced and with
their projected release, more than a dozen will be free and quite possibly
ready to lead new demonstrations or give advice on them even as their lawyers
continue to appeal their cases, to Moscow or even to the European Human Rights
Court.
Also today, the independent Fortanga
agency continued its series on how Ingush should behave if they find themselves
under arrest and charged with crimes they know they did not commit. The primary
rule is do not answer any question about which there is any uncertainty (fortanga.org/2020/02/sotsialnaya-inzheneriya-na-doprose/).
