In an interview with the Russian Life News channel, the sculptor said that more than a decade ago, he had fashioned a statue of Putin as a judo master under the title “In a healthy body, a healthy spirt.” But up to now, however, he continued, that monument remains in his personal gallery rather than in a more public space.

Tsereteli called for the circulation of a petition among residents of the Northern Capital to begin the process of putting up a statue in a prominent location in the Kremlin leader’s native city.
