80 Percent of Belarusians Remain Opposed to Use of Their Army in Ukraine, New Poll Finds

            Staunton, July 20 – Eighty percent of Belarusians remain opposed to the use of their country’s army in the war in Ukraine, according to Andrey Verdomatsky, head of the Belarusian Analytic Workshop, which recently completed the third poll over the last year about such a possibility.

            In presenting his findings in Warsaw, Verdomatsky said that he could not remember any case in which Belarusian attitudes had been so stable over so long a period, an indication that the impact of Russian propaganda may very well have reached its limit (rfi.fr/ru/европа/20230719-опрос-80-белорусов-против-участия-своей-армии-в-войне-с-украиной).

            His latest poll also found that half of those surveyed are against the use by Moscow of Belarusian territory or military infrastructure in that conflict, although a third do approve those possibilities. Belarusian attitudes toward the presence of Russian forces on Belarusian soil divide equally, with 40 percent approving and 40 percent disapproving their being there.
