Staunton, October 13 – In a signal
that ministers appointed by former republic head Yunus-Bek Yevkurov are at risk
not only of losing their jobs but also of being charged with crimes, the Ingush
interior ministry has opened a criminal case against Mustafa Buruzhev, former republic
construction minister, for exceeding his authority and malfeasance.
The charges involve Buruzhev’s certification
that private investments had been found for a project that government funds
were sought when in fact no such private money had been made available. The government money was thus dispersed under
false pretenses (doshdu.com/rodstvennika-evkurova-obvinili-v-dolzhnostnom-prestuplenii/).
Buruzhev had been in trouble last
year for similar activities, but he appears to have been protected by Yevkurov
(vestikavkaza.ru/news/Sud-prodlil-arest-glave-Minstroya-Ingushetii.html). Now, Yevkurov gone, he faces more serious charges
and a far greater likelihood of being convicted, possibilities other Yevkurov
appointees will take very seriously.
