Staunton, Mar. 7 – One of the biggest questions many have about the various committees and organizations emigres from the Russian Federation have formed is how much support they have at home. Many suspect that the organizers speak for few besides themselves and tend to dismiss them out of hand.
That makes any evidence that they are acquiring support at home especially important. Among these groups is the Ingushetia Independence Committee which was established in the emigration two months ago (windowoneurasia2.blogspot.com/2023/02/emigre-founded-ingushetia-independence.html).
Now, the Fortanga news agency, Ingushetia’s largest and most influential opposition outlet, has labelled the appearance of that group as one of the three most important developments in that North Caucasus republic over the last three months alongside two trials of protesters (fortanga.org/2023/03/sozdanie-komiteta-nezavisimosti-sud-nad-batalhadzhinczami-i-mitingovoe-delo-glavnye-sobytiya-zimy-v-ingushetii/).
In a repressive and low information environment, that is certainly a sign that the group is attracting attention and possibly support, a trend that may lead others to take greater notice of the Independence Committee.
