Russia is Like a Dinosaur: It has a Huge Body but a Tiny Brain that Keeps It from Competing with Other Countries, Some of Its Residents Say

            Staunton, July 14 – In seeking to explain why their country is in so much difficulties, some Russians are drawing an analogy between it and the dinosaurs. Like those extinct creatures, Russia has an enormous body but a tiny brain and can’t compete with other countries just as the dinosaurs can’t compete with others not similarly situated.

            That is one of the new anecdotes Russians are exchanging that have been collected and posted by Moscow journalist Tatyana Pushkaryova (publizist.ru/blogs/107374/46313/-). Among the best of the rest are the following:

·       South Africa faces two problems if Putin goes to the BRICS summit there. First, its government has to decide whether to abide by the International Criminal Court and arrest Putin; and then, if they decide to do so, they have to figure out which Putin of the many they have been sent.

·       Last year, Russians wished that the winter would not be so cold; this year, they wish that it won’t be a nuclear one.

·       Russians are uncertain whether the Duma law against sex change operations applies only to the Duma members themselves or to everyone.

·       Russian car manufacturers have come up with a new automobile. Its working name is 習近平.

·       The Prigozhin affair has shown how criminals have defrauded an elderly man of 86 billion rubles

·       A new sign in a Russian church declares that “in connection with road repairs, the passage to heaven will not be through hell. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience.”
