Staunton, September 30 – The Yekaterinburg
city government has called on residents “not to give way to panic and
provocations” after a new wave of telephone terrorist bomb threats forced the evacuation
of more than 50 and some say as many as 100 schools, trade centers and
government offices.
The city called on residents “to
remain calm and organized” so that the city can “maintain stability in the work
of all city services, in the first instance medical and educational
institutions” (politsovet.ru/56725-administraciya-ekaterinburga-vystupila-s-zayavleniem-o-lozhnyh-minirovaniyah.html).
For reports on this development, one
that the Moscow media have largely ignored, see graniru.org/Politics/Russia/FSB/m.264341.html, .e1.ru/news/spool/news_id-478157.html,

Other Russian cities
continue to be affected, but Yekaterinburg’s problems seem to be the most fully
covered, with local outlets providing lists of facilities affected – including the
governor’s offices – and the numbers of people involved. And its problems are the
first known to have led officials to warn of panic.
