Some Rare Good News from Behind the Bars of a Russian Prison – Two of the Ingush Seven Marry

Paul Goble

Staunton, Oct. 12 – Zarifa Sautiyeva and Ismail Nalygiyev, two members of the Ingush Seven who are now serving prison terms of 7.5 and 8 years respectively for their supposed roles as inspirers of the March 2019 protests in Ingushetia against the republic leadership’s handing over of ten percent of the republic to Chechnya, have married

Memorial has denounced their sentences and labelled them political prisoners, but their supporters in the big zone, while not being able to attend their wedding, have declared that this is evidence that “even in the most difficult times, there is a place for light and love” and wish them happiness and a quick release (facebook.com/ingmashr).

All people of good will should join in hoping for that.
