Putin Regime’s Constant Talk about Unity Only Highlights Its Absence and Weakness at the Top, Gallyamov Says

Staunton, Jan. 21 – Efforts by Putin propagandists to promote unity by talking about it are inherently counterproductive, Abbas Gallyamov says. That is because they lead ever more people to recognize that there is little unity and that a regime obsessed with promoting it is only displaying its own weakness.

Every Russia knows that the Russian government as a whole and Vladimir Putin in particular do not care about the lives of ordinary people, and when the Kremlin talks about unity, the former Putin speechwriter says, Russians will conclude that the regime has been forced to do so because it has landed in difficulties (kasparov.ru/material.php?id=63C264A896607).

As Machiavelli observed, “the most important thing for a sovereign is to behave toard his subjects in such a way that no event, either bad or good, will force him to change his treatment of them because if hard times happen, doing evil is too late and doing good is useless” for they will see his actions as “forced and not repay him with gratitude.”
