Prigozhin Gave Up When He Realized He Couldn’t Reach the Other End of Putin’s Table, Russians Say

Paul Goble

Staunton, June 28 – Russians have long laughed at pictures showing Putin sitting at the end of a long table and others at the other distant end. Now, some of them are saying that Wagner PMC leader Prigozhin gave up his revolt when he realized that no matter how hard he and his forces tried, they’d never reach the other end of the Kremlin leader’s table.

That is one of the latest anecdotes Moscow journalist Tatyana Pushkaryova has gathered (publizist.ru/blogs/107374/46170/-). Among the best of the rest are the following:

·       Most Russians had assume that money for the war in Ukraine had fallen from the sky, but now Putin has disabused them of that idea and announced that the money for his war came from the treasury and that means that it came from Russia’s taxpayers.

·       Duma members say that the West is developing special “insect weapons” to destroy Russia, and these are the people who are making Russian laws.

·       During the rising, 19 Russians came out in support of Putin, while more than 145 million either did nothing or took bets as to which side would win.

·       If pollsters were to ask Russians how many favor surrendering to Ukraine, one wonders how many would say that they do.

·       From now on, Russians say, the word f…k will be written with the letter z so that no one will have any doubts as to why this horror happened.

·       Rosstat, the state statistical committee, is now the main driver of Russian economic growth.

·       The Kremlin says that it will achieve the goals of the special military operation no matter what costs it imposes, thus disabusing Russians of the ideas that the government cares  at all about the health, well-being and happiness of the citizenry.
