Regions, Republics, Cities and Villages in Russian Federation Celebrate 900 Festivals Each Year – and a Portal Provides Data on All of Them

Paul Goble

Staunton, Sept. 12 – The roughly 900 festivals regions, republics, cities and villages celebrate each year not only enliven the lives of the people in them but provide a focus for the maintenance of their identities, even though some non-Russians fear that the Putin regime is reducing their nations to little more than those who have such festivals.

The Takiye Dela portal provides a useful description of some of these numerous actions (takiedela.ru/2025/09/korol-ogurec-limpiyada-i-zolotoy-shu/); bout perhaps even more important, it calls attention to another internet site which contains information about them arrayed by location (allfest.ru/r/festivali).

That site, AllFest.ru, provides information that is arrayed by place for all these events and thus gives those interested in ethnicity and regionalism in Russia an important source for comparing regions and republics with each other and the role of festivals over time, something that can have enormous predictive value concerning movements there.
