At Start of His Expanded War in Ukraine, Putin Ended Factory Inspections and Russians are Getting Sick

Paul Goble

Staunton, July 20 – When he launched his expanded invasion of Ukraine, Putin ended the inspections that had been carried out in most factories including those which produced or processed food both to curry favor with business and save money. As a result, the number of Russians suffering from salmonella and E.coli infections has risen by 500 percent.

This is yet another way the war in Ukraine is coming home to Russia, not as dramatic as drone attacks or the arrival of more bodies of Russian soldiers who have died there – but definitely one that those who suffer and sometimes die from food poisoning and their families will never forget (novayagazeta.eu/articles/2025/07/17/kishechno-palochnaia-sistema).

Researchers have found that businesses are cutting corners, not keeping food at the temperatures required for it to remain safe, and adulterating milk and other products with inappropriate and often extremely dangerous additives. And they note that such outbreaks of this kind of disease are happening throughout the country, including in Moscow.
