New US-Ukrainian Network to Promote Awareness of Russian Colonialism’s Crimes Past and Present

Paul Goble

Staunton, Nov. 6 – The US National Endowment for Democracy, Ukrainian journalist Maksym Eristavi, and Kyiv’s independent Zaborona news agency have crated Volya Hub, an online platform where journalists and other content creators from countries previously or currently colonized by Russia can tell their stories.

According to the organizers, writers taking part in the project are to describe what has or is happening in their lands in the languages of the indigenous peoples so as to engage more people in an understanding of the dangers Russian colonialism presents (zaborona.com/en/volya-hub-there-is-a-network-about-the-russian-colonialism/).

In its announcement, the Volya Hub organizers list the 11 formerly occupied Soviet republics and 3 formerly occupied Baltic countries as well as countries in the former Soviet bloc, but presumably those from non-Russian nations within the borders of the Russian Federation as the Russian empire styles itself will become participants as well.

For more information on the effort, see volyahub.com. To contact the organizers, use the following email address: team.eristavi@gmail.com.
