Staunton, Sept. 15 – Publishers and booksellers in the Russian Federation tell Izvestiya that demand for religious literature as well as for esoterica like tarot cards has risen by 50 percent or more since the start of Putin’s war in Ukraine (iz.ru/1573746/katerina-alabina/taro-kak-mir-v-rf-vyros-spros-na-religioznuiu-literaturu-i-ezoteriku).
Indeed, this increase in demand for such literature is challenging demand for psychology and self-help books which have long dominated non-fiction purchases in the Russian book trade. At the very least, this suggests that not only are there no atheists in the trenches, but there are ever fewer of them on the couches of countderies engaged in war.
