Staunton, July 25 – Yet another human
rights group has now spoken out on behalf of those detained in Ingushetia.
Memorial today identified Rashid Maysigov, the editor of the Fortanga portal,
and Zarifa Sautiyeva, a curator and activist, as political prisoners, thus raising
the stakes for Magas and Moscow (fortanga.org/2019/07/zhurnalist-sajta-fortangaorg-priznana-politzaklyuchennoj/).
Memorial’s branch in Ingushetia also
came out in support of demands by Ingush activists that those who are under
arrest be returned to their home republic from neighboring regions where they
are being held so that lawyers and family members can meet with them (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/338321/).
But in yet another indication that
the arrests are not intimidating Ingush activists into stopping their protests,
Magomed Khazbiyev on his release today told a gathering of 50 family and
friends that he and others like him will continue the struggle against the
unjust actions oof the siloviki and the powers that be (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/338312/).
