Staunton, March 12 – After the
Ozdoyev teip announced yesterday that its members would not take part in the
referendum on the amendments to the Russian constitution, the Bekov teip followed
today with a similar declaration, repeating the arguments the Ozdoyev teip made
(fortanga.org/2020/03/bekovy-bojkotiruyut-golosovanie-po-popravkam-v-konstitutsiyu-rf/).
While many know little about these
clans, they are extremely powerful in Ingushetia; and some Moscow outlets are
beginning to take notice because other teips are likely to follow and
participation in the upcoming referendum there could be significantly reduced,
embarrassing Magas (newtimes.ru/news/detail/191822).
Meanwhile, the republic’s Popular
Assembly which has a reliably pro-power majority approved the amendments as
required by the Russian Constitution (serdalo.ru/deputaty-narodnogo-sobraniya-respubliki-ingushetiya-odobrili-zakon-rossijskoj-federaczii-o-popravke-k-konstituczii-rossijskoj-federaczii-o-sovershenstvovanii-regulirovaniya-otdelnyh-voprosov-org/).
