Council of Teips of Ingush People Fined; Two More Activists Arrested

Paul Goble

Staunton, March 5 – A Nazran Court imposed a 10,000 ruble (160 US dollar) find on the Council of Teips of the Ingush People for holding a congress after the authorities had ordered the group to cease operation. Its lawyers said the court had acted incorrectly because the meeting was convened by a separate organization (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/346739/).

Meanwhile, siloviki arrested four Ingush activists, detaining two, Rashid Nalgiyev and Akhmed Chakhkiyev. They are charged with attacking police during the demonstration last March (fortanga.org/2020/03/novye-zaderzhaniya-aktivistov-protesta/,  kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/346719/, kavkazr.com/a/30470132.html and newsru.com/russia/05mar2020/katziev.html).

And another court sentenced Khasan Katsiyev to 21 months in a regular regime prison camp after finding him guilty of using force against police in the March 2019 protests. Because of time already served, he should be released in the near future (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/346731/).
