Ingushetia Authorities Used All Means to Exclude Opposition from Elections, Mutsolgov Says

Staunton, September 13 – In a report to Yabloko HQ, Ruslan Mutsolgov, the head of the party’s Ingush branch, said Magas officials had done possible to prevent opposition candidates from taking part in the election but added he was encouraged by the party’s successes elsewhere and by the fact the population in Ingushetia now sees more clearly what the authorities are up to (fortanga.org/2019/09/obrashhenie-lidera-yabloko-v-ingushetii-po-itogam-vyborov-8-sentyabrya/).

Meanwhile, there were two developments among Ingush opposition figures under detention. Lawyers for Malsag Uzhakhov, head of the Union of Teips of the People of Ingushetia, said he had suffered two heart attacks and needed to be transferred to a hospital (fortanga.org/2019/09/zashhita-soobshhila-o-neobhodimosti-gospitalizirovat-uzhahova/).

And the Russian courts continued the further extension of detentions for opposition figures. Most were initially detained for a brief time, then their terms were extended until after the election, and now they have been lengthened again to the end of the year.  Ruslan Dzeytov will now be held until at least December 25 (zamanho.com/?p=12605).
