Staunton, October 29 – The Moscow
Agency for Political and Economic Communication says in its latest report n
“Non-Political Protests in the Regions” that protests in Russia have been
growing in number, spreading from one region to another and becoming
politicized with ever more Russians who had not taken part in politics before.
The 3200-word report which was
prepared by Anastasiya Salavatova is available at apecom.ru/projects/item.php?SECTION_ID=91&ELEMENT_ID=5673. It is summarized
by Elena Mukhametshina in today’s Vedomosti (vedomosti.ru/politics/articles/2019/10/28/814909-eksperti-predskazali).
Many commentators are making these
pints, but the APEC report is more significant because it has been tracking
such protests over several years and thus is drawing actual comparisons rather
than simply making projections and because it links politicization to the deterioration of the economy rather than to any other factor.
